I really enjoyed this book and it was interesting to read about life in a mining town in Colorado and also about life during the Civil War.The messages that were provided in this book I think were priceless. Especially about living your life filled with hate and finally finding inner peace when forgiveness is given. It is really hard to give forgiveness and I can see it taking until the end of a life to offer it, but also heed the wisdom in the peace that is found by forgiveness.The book was set up like a series of short stories as Hennie shared her life with her young friend Nit. While the book didn't read as a "turn the page quickly" kind of thriller, I am very glad that I read it and highly recommend it to others!
